The first emergency vehicles Rockstar ever showed in GTA VI were not police cars. Fourteen seconds into Trailer 1, a white pickup and two red quads cross a packed beach. The lifeguards have been back in nearly every release since, and they are the only emergency service besides the police with a name we can read.
The OCEAN quads
The lifeguards’ signature vehicle is a red quad bike with black fenders, a black front bumper and a cargo box on the rear rack. Two ride side by side behind the umbrellas in Trailer 1, and one crosses the sand under the biplane in the Launch Trailer.
The clearest look is a still, Vice City 05, from Rockstar’s May 2025 gallery. The quad sits under a yellow lifeguard tower with a LIFEGUARD sign while a lifeguard watches the water through binoculars.

Its side reads OCEAN. On the front fender, a second word is partly hidden and only its last letters show: SCUE. The obvious reading is OCEAN RESCUE, though the full word is not legible.

Quads like this one are common beach patrol vehicles, and GTA has had one before. GTA V’s Blazer Lifeguard is a lifeguard quad based on Honda’s utility ATVs, and GTA VI’s looks like its successor.
Ocean Rescue, the real one
If the hidden word is RESCUE, the name matches the real lifeguard service of Miami Beach. Miami Beach Ocean Rescue is a division of the city’s fire department, with 97 full-time and 30 part-time lifeguards. In 2024 it carried out 577 ocean rescues, the city said when the service won a national award in April 2025.
Miami Beach is also known for its brightly painted lifeguard towers, and a city project covers 35 new ones. The tower in Vice City 05 is painted bright yellow, in the same spirit. Vicebeach, after all, already reads like Miami Beach.
Lifeguards are the only service besides the police whose name we can read, and it points straight to Miami Beach.
The beach pickups
Two pickups work the sand. The first is a white crew cab pickup with a red and orange stripe along its lower body and a round emblem on the door. It drives behind the umbrellas in Trailer 1 and is parked by a tower nine seconds later.

It looks like a full-size Ford F-150 crew cab. GTA V gave its lifeguards a different vehicle, the Lifeguard, a rescue version of the Declasse Granger SUV. A pickup would be a change of style.
The second is a dark red crew cab pickup parked near a tower in the Launch Trailer, with people standing in its bed. It is too far away to show any markings, so we filed it as a lifeguard truck on context alone.

What we have not seen
There is no lifeguard boat or jet ski on file yet, and no lifeguard on duty in a rescue: every sighting so far is a patrol or a parked vehicle. We have also not seen OCEAN on anything but the quad. On November 19 we will see whether Leonida’s beaches have a full rescue service, or just the quads and their towers.
Every lifeguard vehicle and sighting is in our vehicle files.
